People who grow crops have to stay in one place for long periods of time to care for the plants – protecting them from birds, animals and their other companions so they can grow and ripen the crop or seed safely.

People grow crops to meet their daily food and some other needs.

    answer:
    The life of farmers and shepherds differed in the following ways:

They started living a settled life instead of leading a nomadic life like hunters.
They became food producers rather than food collectors. The domestication of plants and animals became an integral part of the Neolithic people.
Different types of houses were built by farmers and shepherds. They used tools of various forms from the people of the earlier Paleolithic period. These include tools that were polished to produce a fine cutting edge and mortars and pestles used for grinding grain and other plant produce.
Generally farmers ate cooked and well prepared food, while hunters on the other hand ate raw and uncooked food.

  1. Make a list of all the animals mentioned in the table on page 25 of the textbook. For each, describe what they can be used for.

Sheep were probably used for meat, milk and wool.
Goat was probably used for meat and milk.
Buffalo for meat and milk.
To pull the bullock cart, chariot and plow.
Pig for meat.
The dog was domesticated for protection and to seek his help in hunting some wild animals.
Other animals like horse, ox, camel, donkey, etc. were called packed animals because they were used to carry loads/carts with people.

This means they have to be in one place to take care of plants, water, weed, drive away animals and birds – until the grain is ripe. Once it was ripe, they had to think of ways to store it. So they had to stay in one place for a long time.

Solution 3:

Archaeologists found bones of many animals such as deer in earlier levels. Therefore, they can conclude that they were initially hunter-gatherers. Animal husbandry became important as they found sheep and goat bones in later levels.
